I wish we had gotten a better photo of this cat and also the delicious drink before we finished it all up.
On our way up into the mountains, our driver Alex kept telling us we would stop for a special drink. Well, he was correct and he knew which was the best place to stop for it. It is made from sugar cane. That gets hardened into a block. Then they grate it and add to hot water. You can also have it with hot milk which is what we did. It’s delicious! It was a rainy cold day, and this funny little cat kept coming up to the window to stare at us. We had a lunch which included “chop chop” which Alex also recommended. Nothing too special about the chop chop - but the drink was worth the stop! Calories must be off the charts - but I do believe we have adequately worked them off chasing the quetzal and other birds for three days.
